Coming Home was a virtual representation of one of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's genetic memories, relived by Desmond Miles in 2012 through the Animus.

Description

Dialogue

Altaïr entered a marketplace.

  • Altaïr: Finally, a settlement! A good opportunity to stretch out a bit. Alep is just ahead. My journey is coming to an end...

As Altaïr's path was blocked by a cart, he took to the rooftops to find a way around. After he made his way back to street level, Altaïr noticed two guards on patrol.

  • Altaïr: I should take it easy around here or I'll attract attention.

Altaïr casually walked past the guards without arousing suspicion, eventually arriving at a closed gate.

  • Altaïr: The gates are closed!

Altaïr observed a nearby merchant.

  • Altaïr: I think this merchant has a key to go in and out freely...

Altaïr approached the merchant and successfully pickpocketed the key from him. After using the key on the gates, Altaïr exited the settlement.

  • Altaïr: Smoke and flames in the distance... The village before the citadel of Alep! What's happening? I should hurry!

Shortly after running towards the village, Altaïr noticed a fellow Assassin lying on the ground, injured.

  • Assassin: Help! Please... Help!
  • Altaïr: What happened?
  • Assassin: The village... under attack!
  • Altaïr: Who's attacking the village?
  • Assassin: Temp... Templars... Take this sword... and avenge us...

Altaïr accepted the sword and used it against an approaching Templar. After killing the Templar, Altaïr noticed his path was blocked.

  • Altaïr: Blocked! I need to find another route!

Altaïr found a new path and entered the village under siege.

  • Guard: Where did you come from?

Altaïr killed the guards standing in his way. After doing so, he noticed a poorly-constructed platform post.

  • Altaïr: I should kick this post so the platform will collapse.

After kicking the post, Altaïr used the new ramp to advance through the village, slaying more guards along the way.

  • Captain: You said everyone was dead! Get rid of this one immediately!

After killing several more guards on the streets, Altaïr found a crossbowman on the roof.

  • Altaïr: I wonder why the Templars are attacking this village...
  • Crossbowman: You might as well kill me; I won't say a word!

Altaïr interrogated the man while applying pressure to his back.

  • Crossbowman: Enough! I don't know much... Our captain was under orders... to find a man that Lord Basilisk was interested in... That is all I know...

After gaining the information, Altaïr made his way to the captain's location.

  • Altaïr: Their leader! He hasn't seen me yet. I have to approach him carefully.

Altaïr assassinated the captain and approached a woman.

  • Woman: Thank God you came! I thought they'd find me and... You must hurry to Alep! Al-Mualim needs to know about this!

Altaïr left the village and continued on to Alep, finding Al-Mualim in his study.

  • Altaïr: Al-Mualim! The village is under att...
  • Al-Mualim: I know. It's being taken care of right now. We treaded carelessly. The Templars were following a man... One of ours, one who had vital information for our cause. We lost it... But first, welcome back, Altaïr.
  • Altaïr: It's good to be here again, Al-Mualim.
  • Al-Mualim: Indeed it is. We have a mission for you, one that is of utmost importance for our cause. Come near. The Templars are in possession of a powerful object called the Chalice. Its role is to unite the factions of whoever holds it, the Crusaders or the Saracens. Those who have it will rule these lands. The Templars are keeping it hidden for the time being. Theirs is the way of gold and power. That is not something we can offer. But others might... We need the Chalice. Something that powerful must be kept away from the dealings of men. Altaïr, find it. Bring it here.

Outcome

Altaïr learned of the Chalice and set out to retrieve it.

Description

Dialogue

  • Rafik: Fine silks, my ladies! Straight from Cathay!
  • Altaïr: Old man! I have a message for you! A cat's dream is filled with mice.
  • Rafik: Not here, you fool! Ladies, you must excuse me!

Altaïr followed the man into his shop.

  • Rafik: A fine morning surprise! Only one who has walked the plains of God more than those of men could act this stupidly. You ought to know when to shut up and show some the respect they deserve! Old man, you say? Maybe. But look behind me and see all that I have built. You? You have nothing; you're just a howling brat. A test for you, then. Down this street, there is a man in front of the big gate. Kill him. Continue to the end of the street; if you survive, you will find me waiting.

Altaïr left the shop and tracked down the man he was meant to kill.

  • Altaïr: There's my target.

Altaïr noticed an archer on a nearby rooftop.

  • Altaïr: I should get rid of this guard. He'll raise the alarm if he sees me.

Altaïr silently killed the archer and made his way to his target. After killing his target, a nearby guard noticed him.

After dealing with the guards, Altaïr continued to the end of the street, meeting the old man again.

  • Rafik: Not bad! Maybe you're a real Assassin after all. Let's go in the office, we have to talk.

Altaïr followed the man into his office.

  • Rafik: I don't think Al-Mualim sent you just to annoy me. So what is it?
  • Altaïr: We're looking for something that is in the Templars' possession. It's called the...
  • Rafik: No need. You are not the first man sent by Al-Mualim for this. Those who found nothing are still alive. One apparently did find something, but... If you are coming from the citadel, you already know his fate. A man came into town recently. He is a wealthy oddities merchant called Tamir. He's got close ties to the Templars, so he should be as good a target as any to start with. Still, that's easier said than done; his house is heavily guarded.
  • Altaïr: Perhaps there is another way?
  • Rafik: A bright button you are! Indeed there is. There's a man called Misbah in Lowend Street. He's had some dealings with the merchant and should have information. Here, take this Grappling Hook. It will help you if you need to use the roofs again.

Altaïr left the old man's office and headed for Lowend Street.

  • Altaïr: Lowend Street... The same slum as always! Let's find Misbah now.
  • Guard: Keep your eyes open! What are you, the soldiers of the Holy Sleep?!
  • Altaïr: So many guards... The rooftops should be safer.

Altaïr took to the rooftops and made his way to Misbah, using his newly-acquired grappling hook. Along the way, Altaïr noticed a guard standing underneath a metal crate.

  • Altaïr: A perfect setup to create some mischief! Let's see...

Altaïr dropped the crate on the guard and continued on his way. As he approached a nearby house, Altaïr tried to open the door.

  • Altaïr: Locked!

Altaïr noticed a guard on a nearby structure.

  • Altaïr: The guard in that tower should have the means of entering...

Altaïr pickpocketed the guard and entered the building. Upon exiting the building, Altaïr noticed Misbah.

  • Altaïr: Misbah! A mutual friend told me you could help me...
  • Misbah: Who... Who are you?!
  • Altaïr: Names come as fast as they go. It doesn't matter. I need some information about Tamir.

Altaïr interrogated Misbah, calling the attention of a nearby guard patrol.

  • Guard: You there! Come forward!
  • Altaïr: I'm afraid I cannot do such a thing by my own volition.

The guards attacked Altaïr and were defeated. After dealing with the guards, Altaïr followed Misbah, who had run away in the chaos. As he tried to flee via the rooftops, the buildings collapsed, leaving him only a rope to hang on to.

  • Altaïr: Hmm, it seems you've found yourself in a peculiar spot. If you want me to help you walk on firm ground again...
  • Misbah: ...Anything, anything! Heights... I... HELP ME!
  • Altaïr: A way into Tamir's house?
  • Misbah: I know of no such way!
  • Altaïr: That doesn't really help me, you know?
  • Misbah: Stop! Stop, please! I know nothing of entering his house! I was never there! But I know something about Tamir! Maybe it can help you! Please!
  • Altaïr: Speak.
  • Misbah: There's... been a shipment of oil to his house. He keeps the barrels on his roof. You don't have to enter! You can get him out!
  • Altaïr: I see. Helpful information, indeed.
  • Misbah: Help me now!
  • Altaïr: Well, I am afraid that it will create a bad habit for you. You should help yourself!

After leaving Misbah to his own fate, Altaïr continued on his path.

  • Altaïr: On to Tamir's house, now...

As he made for the rooftops, a civilian noticed Altaïr, shouting at him and throwing rocks.

  • Civilian: He's here, the Assassin is here!

Altaïr quickly scurried to the rooftops, finally arriving atop Tamir's house.

  • Altaïr: The oil barrels! And some torches... Rather convenient and useful.

Altaïr lit the oil barrels, causing an explosion. Tamir and his guards ran outside.

  • Guard: Sir, wait here! We'll go get some water and more people to help!
  • Tamir: Faster, fools! If anything in there burns, you'll be the first to pay! My beautiful carpets! The Venetian silverware! All lost!
  • Altaïr: Surely you can buy them back.
  • Tamir: What... Who's there?!

Altaïr dropped to the floor and approached Tamir.

  • Altaïr: The Chalice, Tamir. I'm looking for it.
  • Tamir: And why would I tell you anything?!
  • Altaïr: Because aside from the flames around us, we are alone, Tamir. You want a way out?
  • Tamir: You assassins are not much fun when it comes to negotiating, are you? Always straight to the point. Yes, of course I want a way out. Still, there isn't much that I can tell you. The Chalice lies in the desert, Assassin. Don't know where or what it actually is. For that, you'll have to dig some more. What I do know is that you will need three keys to enter the desert temple. To find out about those, you'll have to ask Fajera.
  • Altaïr: Who?
  • Tamir: A dancer. Thinks she's a butterfly. You'll know when you see her. I told you everything I know. What now?

Altaïr assassinated Tamir, alerting the guards of his presence.

  • Guard: Stop him! He's getting away!

After escaping the guards, Altaïr continued on to the rooftops.

  • Altaïr: I should go back to Rafik... Tamir's last words raised some questions...

Outcome

Altaïr learned the Chalice was being held in the desert temple and set out to find Fajera.

Description

Dialogue

  • Rafik: Did you find out what you wanted?
  • Altaïr: A bit, yes.
  • Rafik: Good, good. I don't suppose you came here just to show me how talented you are. What else do you want?
  • Altaïr: Fajera, the dancer. Where can I find her?
  • Rafik: A dancer? Haha! It seems to me that Tamir had an interesting sense of humor. She's a circus dancer, that's Fajera. Head on to Market street. There's a circus there. You'll find her there. Good luck, Assassin.
  • Altaïr: Thank you, Keeper.

Altaïr left the shop and headed for the circus. As he entered the tent, he encountered Fajera.

  • Fajera: You! My cards told me one such as yourself would come. But you are wasting your time!
  • Altaïr: I'm not wasting it.
  • Fajera: You'll find that not all women are easily intimidated. Badr! This man is bothering me!
  • Badr: You leave Fajera alone now! She doesn't want you here!
  • Altaïr: Step aside, big man. I've no quarrel with you.
  • Badr: I'm afraid I cannot do that, small man. But you are free to make me, if you can.

Badr attacked Altaïr, but was ultimately defeated. With one final strike, Altaïr kicked Badr into a post, causing the tent to collapse on him. Altaïr caught up to Fajera, just as she was crossing a bridge.

  • Altaïr: Stop!

After Fajera crossed the bridge, it collapsed, forcing Altaïr to find a different way across.

  • Fajera: I've already told you. You're wasting your time. So long!

Altaïr used his grappling hook to cross the river and caught up to Fajera again, who was standing by a well.

  • Altaïr: End of the road, Fajera.
  • Fajera: Indeed, and exactly where it was supposed to be.
  • Altaïr: What do you mean?
  • Fajera: I had to test you, man of shadows. Let's see if you are driven enough for this task.
  • Altaïr: What task? What are you speaking of?
  • Fajera: The Chalice. Isn't that why you came to me?
  • Altaïr: Indeed it is, but...
  • Fajera: I knew that you would come for quite some time. The cards never lie. I prepared myself to be able to help you. And the fact that you are here now tells me that I did everything right. Still, I have to do two more things. One is to give you something, the other is to ask you something. To give: The first key to the desert temple. To ask: Kill a man called Alaat for me.
  • Altaïr: Where?
  • Fajera: The baths of Upper Street, in the Noble District.
  • Altaïr: Alright.
  • Fajera: One more thing. There's a man who's been to the desert temple, where the Chalice is hidden. He can help you further. He's at the Templar Hospital in Tyre. Come now, Alaat's end awaits you. I'll get you into the District, then you can use the sewers to reach the baths.

Altaïr accompanied Fajera into the Rich District.

  • Fajera: And now, as I said, you can use the sewers to reach the baths.
  • Altaïr: Thank you, Fajera.
  • Fajera: Good luck, Altaïr.

Altaïr entered the sewers. Upon nearing the exit, Altaïr stepped on a switch, opening a nearby gate.

  • Altaïr: Quickly! Before the door closes again!

Altaïr exited the sewers and approached Alaat.

  • Alaat: Leave, beggar! This is no place for the likes of you.
  • Altaïr: It's quite the other way around, Alaat. I am the giver, you are the beggar.
  • Alaat: What?! Who are you?! GUARDS! GUARDS!

Altaïr assassinated Alaat before the guards could arrive.

  • Guard: Slay the assassin!

Altaïr killed the guards and found Fajera.

  • Fajera: You succeeded! I knew my cards wouldn't lie.
  • Altaïr: They didn't.
  • Fajera: Now, Assassin, the next step you take is Tyre. The Templar Hospital. Find the old man.
  • Altaïr: I'll do that.
  • Fajera: Good luck, Altaïr.

Outcome

Altaïr obtained the first key and set out to retrieve the next one.

Description

Dialogue

  • Altaïr: I've missed the humid winds of Tyre... Seems nothing much has changed around here. Except the number of soldiers around. So many now... Hamid, the keeper of Tyre, should be around here somewhere. He can help me find this hospital that Fajera spoke about.

Altaïr cautiously walked to where Hamid was stationed, so as not to alert any guards.

  • Altaïr: Good day! I'm looking for Hamid, the carpet merchant.
  • Hamid: Who's looking for him?
  • Altaïr: Rafik, the silk merchant from Damascus sent me to him.
  • Hamid: Rafik, you say? Welcome then, I've been expecting you! It's not safe for an Assassin to wander the streets of Tyre these days.
  • Altaïr: What's with all these soldiers? I haven't seen so many guards in Tyre in years.
  • Hamid: It has to do with that hospital of theirs. Since they opened it again, they guard it like a treasure.
  • Altaïr: Interesting, since I'm here about the hospital myself...
  • Hamid: Are you now? Well, what about it?
  • Altaïr: An entrance.
  • Hamid: For that, we have to go there. Not together though. It's close to the docks, you can't miss it. Go, and use the rooftops: they're safer now.

Altaïr made for the rooftops and encountered two guards.

  • Guard: Hold on! You're not going anywhere!

Altaïr killed the guards and continued on his way. As he navigated a decrepit building, he came across three more guards.

  • Guard: Hey! What are you doing here? Shameless thief! I'll teach you a lesson! Nazim! Pull out your crossbow! We've got a thief in here!

Altaïr eliminated the guards and headed for his destination, before being impeded by a sewer system.

  • Altaïr: A deep and deadly sewer... This won't be easy to pass! I'll have to move quickly in order to reach the other side of the building.

Altaïr successfully arrived at the other side of the building, but was stopped by an old man.

  • Old Man: Wait! Who are you? This area is closed!
  • Altaïr: I've got no time to explain! Let me pass!
  • Old Man: Not in 1,000 years, Assassin! Guards! Arrest this man!
  • Altaïr: You shouldn't... have done that!

Altaïr killed the guards and eventually met up with Hamid.

  • Hamid: Find the one who is in charge of the hospital: Roland Napule. A wicked man, according to all the stories about this place...
  • Altaïr: What stories?
  • Hamid: They say he's been questioning people. It seems he's looking for something... We don't actually know, we've never been inside. We sent a man a few months ago, but he didn't return.
  • Altaïr: How do I get in?
  • Hamid: The drained fountain, there. It's usually close but... at this hour, a man goes there to clean it and make sure it's still locked. Get the key from him. Be careful, the way is dangerous after that. Good luck, Altaïr.
  • Altaïr: Thank you, Hamid.

Altaïr pickpocketed the man.

  • Altaïr: I've got the key. I must escape through the fountain, quickly!

Altaïr entered the fountain well and traversed the sewers until he came across two stranded guards.

  • Guard 1: Well... How are we going to get out of here now?
  • Guard 2: Why are you asking me? You lost that silly raft!
  • Guard 1: I did what!? I told you to firmly tie the rope to that pole!
  • Guard 2: If that rope wasn't rotten maybe I could have done it better!
  • Guard 1: Of course... So it's my fault that it was rotten and you didn't see that! Stop this nonsense and think clearly for a moment! We need to find a way to get out of this rat-infested place.

One of the guards noticed Altaïr.

  • Guard 2: Hey! Who are you!?! How did you get in here?
  • Altaïr: I'm here to help you get out!

The second guard turned back to his companion.

  • Guard 2: Finding a funny guy in the sewers is your fault also! You volunteered us for this!
  • Guard 1: Well... I agree, this is my fault. What do you propose we do?
  • Guard 2: Kill the funny one, what else?
  • Guard 1: Good plan!
  • Altaïr: It seems the good doctor knows of this entry into his hospital.

Altaïr exited the sewers and entered the hospital. He attempted to cross a rafter, but it broke underneath him, causing him to fall and alerting the guards.

  • Guard: An intruder?! Kill him!

After killing the guards in the room, a gate opened, allowing more guards into the room.

  • Guard: An Assassin? Attack him at once!

After disposing of the guards, Altaïr noticed moving platforms that he could use to continue.

  • Altaïr: Perfect timing on these platforms! That's the way!

Altaïr successfully navigated the platforms and killed two crossbowmen, alerting more guards in the next room.

  • Guard: You'll never get out alive! Aim your crossbows!

Altaïr defeated the guards and climbed to the second floor.

  • Altaïr: Those floor buttons must be activated somehow...

Altaïr pushed the metal crates onto the buttons below, opening a gate. He continued on through the rafters, until he found a tar-filled jar.

  • Altaïr: Hmm... That tar is highly flammable...

Altaïr picked up torches and threw them into the tar, killing some of the guards.

  • Guard 1: Hey! What's going on?
  • Guard 2: Firas? Are you okay?

Altaïr killed the remaining guards, allowing him access into the next room, where he found a guard locked inside a cage.

  • Caged Guard: I will kill you! Just let me out!

Altaïr ignored the guard and climbed to the top of the room, where he found a lever. He pulled the lever, opening a door next to the caged guard.

  • Altaïr: Hmm... This might open a secret passage...

Upon opening the secret passage, the cage around the guard lifted, freeing him. Altaïr killed the guard and used the secret passage.

  • Altaïr: What's this? A secret Templar crypt?

After defeating the guards in the crypt, Altaïr looked around the room.

  • Altaïr: There's something wrong with these coffins anyway...

Altaïr pushed several of the coffins back into their holes. Upon pushing one of them, a guard popped out.

  • Altaïr: What the...

Altaïr killed the guard and continued to push the coffins, finally activating a lift at the end of the room. Altaïr used the lift and arrived in the room occupied by Roland and his guards.

  • Roland: Ask him again. He must know where the key is!
  • Guard: Yes, my lord!

Roland noticed Altaïr.

  • Roland: Don't let the intruder live! Kill him now!

Altaïr killed the guards and followed Roland to the rafters.

  • Altaïr: End of the road, Templar!
  • Roland: I'll see you in hell, Assassin!

Altaïr assassinated Roland and freed his captive.

  • Captive: Who... Who's there?! Stay away!
  • Altaïr: Old man, I'm not who you think I am. I'm one of the Assassins. I am looking for something that is in the care of the Templars.
  • Captive: How do I know you are speaking the truth?
  • Altaïr: I... Indeed, there is nothing that I can do to prove that I am who I say I am.
  • Captive: Oh, but there is. Come closer. Give me your left hand. You have a hidden blade, Assassin. You are speaking the truth. You seem to be warm enough to be alive. And you being here tells me what you seek. The Chalice!
  • Altaïr: Yes, old man. I seek the Chalice. You've been to the desert temple, you have one of the keys. I need it.
  • Captive: I know you do, young man. The key is yours. One more thing. The Templars found out about the entry that these keys open. Lord Basilisk already has one of them. I was brought here so that they could take the second one. But I'll give it to you.

Outcome

Altaïr received the second key and proceeded to Jerusalem.

Description

Dialogue

  • Kadar: Well met, Altaïr!
  • Altaïr: Good to see you, Keeper!
  • Kadar: What is it that you need?
  • Altaïr: Lord Basilisk. I learned that he is in Jerusalem.
  • Kadar: Oh, an ambitious man, I see. He is a fearsome, feral warrior. Lord Basilisk idles in the King's wake. You'll spot him outright. But entering the palace of the King of Jerusalem is no small feat, I warn you. Although, as it happens, you came at the right time. The King will be holding a small party; nothing to be made public. But still, he will be out of his fortress and somewhere in the city. It should be easier for you to reach him. I don't know where this party will take place; you must find out.
  • Altaïr: Where could I learn this information?
  • Kadar: Try the City Gardens: it's the perfect place to pick up gossip on the nobility.
  • Altaïr: Thank you, Keeper.
  • Kadar: One more thing. We also have a man in the lower ranks of the King's staff. We haven't heard from him. Look into it, see if you can help him.
  • Altaïr: Alright.
  • Kadar: Good luck, Assassin!

Altaïr left the man's shop and made for the rooftops. As he approached the ground, a group of guards noticed him.

  • Guard: An assassin?! Get him now!

Altaïr killed the guards and continued on his way, until he noticed a hill with several groups of civilians he could eavesdrop on.

  • Altaïr: I need to stop for a few seconds to overhear their conversation.
  • Civilian 1: ...fine silks... Kasira's shop... kids...
  • Civilian 2: ...fishing... lure must be... Also keep in mind...

Altaïr made it to the top of the hill.

  • Altaïr: This is it! Maybe I can find out where it's going to take place.
  • Civilian 3: Lucky man, Ayman! He was invited to this great party tonight.
  • Civilian 4: Really? How do you know that?
  • Civilian 3: He just told me. He's on the other side of the gardens. He usually takes a stroll through the gardens at this hour.

Learning where to go next, Altaïr made his way to the gardens and approached Ayman.

  • Altaïr: Ayman, right? I have not time to waste. Tell me where the King is having his party this evening.
  • Ayman: I don't have to tell you anything. Begone!
  • Altaïr: I'm not a Djinn for you to order around!

Altaïr interrogated Ayman, applying pressure to his back.

  • Ayman: Argh! I'll tell you! Just let me live! The party will be held at Lacoeur's villa, in the north part of the city! Don't kill me, please!
  • Altaïr: You've never met me. Why would I kill you?
  • Ayman: Y... Yes, of course! Never met you!

With his newly-obtained knowledge, Altaïr continued on to Lacoeur's villa.

  • Altaïr: The entrance is heavily guarded, but it's the only way in.

Altaïr fought his way through the guards in the courtyard, eventually arriving at a drawbridge.

  • Guard: Raise the bridge! We are under attack! Hurry!

Altaïr used his grappling hook to cross the gap and continued traversing the rafters until he fell into a weapons storeroom. Altaïr killed the guards inside and encountered a man nearby.

  • Altaïr: Who are you?
  • Man: I'm a friend, Assassin. I work for the King but... I am actually of Kadar's ranks. You need help to get past the entrance. Those who built this castle ensured that there was a secret passage...if one needed to get in or out of the castle unnoticed. There are four stones that need to be pressed with something heavy...for the passage to open. Use your eyes, Assassin! But first, let me open this door for you.

The man opened the weapons storeroom door, allowing Altaïr to leave.

  • Altaïr: What about you? Kadar said he hasn't heard from you in a long time.
  • Man: It's hard, now that Basilisk is around. He is always watching. Tell my master I am alright. I'll be with him soon. Good luck, Assassin.

Altaïr left the man and found the entrance to the secret passage.

  • Altaïr: That must be the passage that goes underneath the castle.

Altaïr killed the guards in the courtyard and moved four metal crates onto the four buttons, opening the secret entrance. Altaïr entered the passage and stepped on a switch, opening a distant door.

  • Altaïr: This door won't stay open for long. I need to reach it fast.

Altaïr made it to the door just in time and entered the castle, encountering Basilisk.

  • Altaïr: This must be Basilisk! The key, around his neck!
  • Basilisk: An Assassin! And one that reached me, before I snatched him out of this world. A challenge, finally!
  • Altaïr: Not really, Basilisk. I'm not here for you.

Basilisk attacked Altaïr, who engaged him in combat just long enough to grab the key from his neck. With his prize, Altaïr ran out the door.

  • Altaïr: So long, Lord Basilisk. I have the key, that's all I wanted.
  • Basilisk: You!! Come back!

Outcome

Altaïr obtained the final key and headed back to Hazad's shop.

Kill the Killers was a virtual representation of one of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's genetic memories, relived by Desmond Miles in 2012 through the Animus.

Description

Dialogue

  • Altaïr: Yet again, old Jerusalem! I should hurry and find Hazad's shop!

As Altaïr approached Hazad's shop, he overheard an argument inside.

  • Hazad: What is the meaning of this?
  • Guard: One of your men stole a map from us. We're here to take it back.
  • Hazad: I don't know what you are talking about. Now, leave the shop!
  • Guard: This attitude is not helping you. We'll take the map anyway.
  • Hazad: Noooo...

The guard pulled out his sword and slayed Hazad. Altaïr ran inside.

  • Guard: You, stay out of this if you value your life!

Altaïr stayed his blade and the guard walked away.

  • Hazad: Altaïr, come here... You are just a bit late. You are not the only one looking for the Chalice. We managed to find a map that showed the way to the Desert Temple. You have to get it back! Follow them back to that accursed tower of theirs! Take the map from the Templars, Altaïr! Find the Chalice!

As Altaïr left the shop and entered the market, he was stoned by civilians and attacked by guards.

  • Old Man: He's the one! He's the killer!
  • Guard: Your path ends here, assassin!
  • Merchant: The finest Persian merchandise... Hey! Guard, there he is...

Altaïr disposed of the guards and headed for the rooftops, where he eavesdropped on a group of guards conversing.

  • Guard 1: The shopkeeper's men will try to take the map back, that's a given.
  • Guard 2: You, you are the fastest among us. Take the map back to the tower. Be careful, Lord Basilisk is on his way and he asked for it specifically. Our lives depend on that map being in the tower when he arrives. We'll stay here and try to fend off the keeper's men. Go now!
  • Guard 3: The assassins will use the rooftops to move. There's one of them! Shoot!

Being fired upon by catapults, Altaïr ran after the guard carrying the map, using his grappling hook to cross large gaps. Reaching a large gate, Altaïr caught up to the guard.

  • Guard: If someone is following me, I should be safe beyond these walls. We'll use the catapults to drive them off. Farewell, Assassin!

Altaïr followed the man inside and eavesdropped on his conversation with several crossbowmen.

  • Guard: Listen up, warriors! An assassin is here! He must not reach our fortress! If he gets past you, you'll have to answer to Lord Basilisk directly! Now, a strong arm and a steady aim! Crossbowmen, spread out and hunt him down!

As Altaïr approached a barrel, some of the crossbowmen noticed him.

  • Crossbowman: Fire at those tar barrels! They will explode!

Altaïr approached a platform bridge with several barrels of tar placed underneath.

  • Altaïr: I should get off this platform... it could collapse any second!

At the end of the bridge, Altaïr came up to a tall wall.

  • Altaïr: This wall is too high to climb! But maybe I can do it if I stack those boxes...

Altaïr stacked the boxes and climbed the wall and proceeded to a guarded platform.

  • Guard: Bloch his path! Close the trap! Don't let him activate the switches!

Altaïr killed the guards and activated the switches.

  • Altaïr: That's it, the path should be open!
  • Guard: He got past our trap! Get him!

After defeating the guards, Altaïr noticed a large gap.

  • Altaïr: This will be a tough jump! Especially with the crossbowmen firing at me...

Altaïr crossed the gap and encountered several guards.

  • Guard: There's nowhere to go, Assassin!

After slaying the guards, Altaïr noticed a drawbridge, an obelisk and three buttons with pictures on them.

  • Altaïr: There must be a way to lower that bridge! And I bet it's connected to that obelisk. I should take a closer look at it!

Altaïr approached the obelisk.

  • Altaïr: It says: "When the clouds block the sun...the lightning will purge the unclean...and the path will open for those who are worthy!" Those buttons should be pressed in a certain order!

Altaïr spoke aloud to himself as he stepped on the buttons.

  • Altaïr: Clouds... Sun... And lightning! I did it!

Altaïr crossed the bridge and was ambushed by two guards.

  • Guard 1: He's cornered!
  • Guard 2: Don't let him get to the catapult. ..

Altaïr defeated the guards and observed the catapult and the distant tower.

  • Altaïr: Maybe I could use this catapult!

Altaïr activated the catapult, bombarding the tower and dropping a rafter for him to use to access the snake-filled tower, as well as the courtyard below.

  • Guard: He dares to enter our quarters! Get him!

As Altaïr crossed another courtyard via rafters, he heard a guard shout.

  • Crossbowman: Crossbowmen! Take him down! Bring him down now! Don't let him escape!

Altaïr crossed the rafters and made it down into another courtyard with two skilled guards.

  • Guard: This is the end of your world, Assassin!

Altaïr killed the guards and noticed the giant map puzzle under his feet.

  • Altaïr: It looks like that closed door is connected to this map! I wonder if I can put it back together!

Altaïr stepped on the switches and solved the puzzle.

  • Altaïr: And... Success... The door is now open!

Altaïr entered the fortress and found several guards waiting for him, as well as a crossbowman on a raised platform.

  • Guard: Hmm... It seems I underestimated you, Assassin! That's a mistake I won't make again... Guards, kill this creature!
    There's nowhere to go, Assassin!
    He's cornered!
    Attack him, you fools!

With the platform lowered, Altaïr slayed the crossbowman.

  • Altaïr: Be sure to prepare your excuses, crossbowman! From now on you will start to pay for your deeds...

Altaïr left the room and headed across a bridge. As he was making his way over, he noticed a man at the top of the tower.

  • Student: Welcome to our humble home, Assassin! Go right ahead! My master will see you now!

Altaïr went inside the tower and met the Master.

  • Master: Well, assassin, you've managed to overcome all my obstacles! The more I think about it... Our order needs men of your talent! Why fight when we share the same creed?
  • Altaïr: Join the Templars? To dress myself in strange garb?
  • Master: Sounds like a refusal. But I'll give you some more time to think about it! And... my guards will keep you company during this time! Guards, get him!

Altaïr defeated the guards and observed the platform the Master used to escape.

  • Altaïr: That central platform is connected to those counterweights!

Altaïr pulled the levers, lowering the counterweights, as well as the platform. After he got on, the platform raised to the top level, where the Master was waiting.

  • Master: So... How about my proposal, Assassin?
  • Altaïr: You already know the answer!
  • Master: Then I guess it's time to put some sense in you!

Altaïr and the Master fought. With enough damage sustained, the Master ran out the door.

  • Master: Well, you're stronger than I expected... Guard, delay the Assassin!

Altaïr killed the guards and followed the Master. As he made his way around the tower, Altaïr noticed flags he could use as beams to proceed.

  • Altaïr: Those flags look a bit old... They could break at any moment!

Passing the flags, Altaïr looked up the tower, noticing a dangerous path with spinning blades.

  • Altaïr: This looks like the only way up! I'll have to be careful about those blades!

On his way back down a different side of the tower, Altaïr noticed two sleeping guards.

  • Altaïr: Those guards haven't seen me...

Altaïr made his way down the tower side and assassinated the guards. After dealing with them, Altaïr entered the tower, arriving at a jail room.

  • Student: My master asks you one last time, Assassin! Join us... or join our prisoners!
  • Altaïr: I don't believe in threats, Templar puppet! Especially your threats!

The Student attacked Altaïr, only to be defeated. Altaïr left the jail and fought his way up the outskirts of the tower, reaching the Master.

  • Master: So... you've managed to get this far! No matter... You will go no further!

Altaïr and the Master fought again; the Master fleeing a second time.

  • Master: I'll leave you to my guards... For now!
  • Guard: We're here, master!

Altaïr killed the guards and entered the tower, arriving in a puzzle room.

  • Master: You've proven your strength, Assassin... Let's see if your wits help you get past my traps!

Altaïr solved the room and followed the Master out onto the balcony.

  • Master: This is it! There's nowhere to run now! And none of your guards to protect you... I need the map you are holding, Templar.
  • Master: Enough of this! So, you've destroyed half the fortress to get to me...
  • Altaïr: To the map, Templar, not you.
  • Master: You almost broke my heart when you said that... And it will be just that much more enjoyable to watch you die!

Altaïr and the Master fought once again, finally resulting in the Master's death. Altaïr approached the center of the balcony, which housed the map he sought.

Outcome

Altaïr acquired the map to the desert temple.

Temple of Sand was a virtual representation of one of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's genetic memories, relived by Desmond Miles in 2012 through the Animus.

Description

Dialogue

  • Altaïr: You! Open the door, and don't make me repeat myself.
  • Man: I cannot... Lord Basilisk will kill me!

Altaïr interrogated the man, applying pressure to his back.

  • Man: Stop, please stop! It's useless! You have to press two switches at the same time. They're far apart! You'll never make it on your own!
  • Altaïr: That's for me to decide. Sleep now, old man.
  • Altaïr: I need to get to the other side. Perhaps I could use my bombs to destroy the other pipe.

Axe Warrior attacked him.

Altaïr approached a statue and encountered Basilisk.

  • Basilisk: Looking for something, Assassin? This game of our is amusing, but it grows old quickly... Still, you have kept me entertained so far.
  • Altaïr: Thank you, I did my best to keep you slightly amused.
  • Basilisk: I didn't know that your Order had men with resources like yours. But this advantage of theirs is coming to an end now. One last thing, though. I am strangely compelled to feel that I owe you an explanation. The Chalice, the thing you are looking for. Do you know what it is?
  • Altaïr: No.
  • Basilisk: It is flesh and bones, Assassin. A woman.
  • Altaïr: ...
  • Basilisk: Indeed. And now, welcome to your end. Good luck in the afterlife! Guards! Don't let him escape!

Altaïr entered the statue, somehow ending up outside the temple.

  • Altaïr: Where... Where am I? Everything is falling apart... That sandstorm! It's coming this way!
  • Guard: The assassin must not reach the shelter!

Altaïr defeated the guards and entered the shelter.

  • Altaïr: Basilisk said that something awaits him in Tyre. Hopefully I'm not too far behind him...as it means something awaits me in Tyre, as well.

Outcome

Having escaped the sandstorm and finding out the truth about the Chalice, Altaïr followed Basilisk to Tyre.

Felicia Mareno (possibly misspelled) was a woman who lived during the Golden Age of Piracy and I'm sure she was just a fantastic person.

In 2013, her genetic memories were used as an Animi Avatar by the entertainment branch of the Templar company Abstergo Industries, to influence the general public via the Animus games console (possibly), under the title of the Puppeteer.
