Yang Guozhong's servant

The servant of Yang Guozhong was a worker who operated in the court of Emperor Xuanzong.

During the Flower Banquet of 754, the servant welcomed a group of delegates who won the competition at Xingqing Palace, leading them to wait at the Agarwood Gazebo while Yang Guozhong attended the party at the palace proper. When asked if they would have their requests answered by Yang, the servant remarked that, having worked for him for years, he knew his master's temper and he would be in a good mood that day, since they won the festival in his name.[1] Some time later, having been informed the group's corpses had been located at the small structure, the servant fearfully reported this to Guozhong, who remained outwardly unperturbed. He then ordered his servant to have the Feathered Forest hunt for the killer in utmost discretion, so as to not ruin the festivities and alert the Emperor.[2]
