Wei Fangjin

Wei Fangjin (魏方進; died 756) was a Tang dynasty official who served as a Grand Censor during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong. He was a relative of Yang Guozhong and a member of Golden Turtles.

Biography

After the fall of Tongguan, Emperor Xuanzong left Chang'an from Yanqiumen in the early morning of 13 June, 756 with his concubines, sisters, and official entourage.[1] After arriving at Mawei Station, Yang Guozhong secretly held a meeting of Golden Turtles. At the meeting, Yang Guozhong tried to shirk his responsibilities, saying that the soldiers who were secretly unhappy dared not blame the Emperor and needed someone to vent their frustrations at. Afterwards, the Golden Turtles were attacked by a group of Hidden Ones led by Li E, and most of them, including Wei Fangjin, were shot to death by arrows.[2]
