Thomas Gainsborough (1727 – 1788) was an English portrait and landscape painter.[1] Around 1785, he was hired to paint Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire's portrait; the art was stolen from Thomas Agnew & Sons's gallery in 1876 by the notorious criminal Adam Worth.[2]
