Teague
Teague was an acolyte of the Hidden Ones based in the bureau under the Temple of Ceres near Glevum during the late-4th century.
Biography
Following his adoption of Christianity as the state religion for the Roman Empire in 380, the Emperor Theodosius I supported the campaign of persecution against the pagans living within the Empire. In Britannia, executions of pagans britons became a routine occurrence, and the Hidden Ones, who protected the Christians when they were themselves persecuted in the previous centuries, decided to act.[1]
Teague and a magister were tasked to execute three priests in a public fashion to send a message to the Christians. The mission was a partial success, Vitus, Secunda and Agapitus were executed, but Teague's master later succumbed to his wounds.[1]
Legacy
Five centuries later, the report of Teague's mission was recovered by the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir as she explored the Roman ruins of the Temple of Ceres near Glowecestre.[1]
