Stoneburgh

Stoneburge was a village in the western part of 9th century Snotinghamscire.
History
In 876, Clan Hemmingsons advisor Trygve was ordered by his friend and leader, Hemming Jarl, to venture towards Stoneburgh, to defeat any remaining Picts that will come after the siege on Ulkerthorpe Fort.[1] However, Trygve proved too late as the Picts ransacked the village and set it aflame and killed some of its people. Luckily, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir and Hemming's son and her childhood friend, Vili Hemmingson, saw the smoke from the village in the distance.[2]
Upon their arrival, Eivor and Vili aided and rescued the remaining villagers from the fire. Outside the perimeter, Eivor and Vili met with Trygve, who was tending the wounded. Together, they talked about the aiding the rescued, but Vili left to tend his wounds at Kinder Downfall, while Trygve and Eivor discussed Hemming's illness. Knowing what to do, Eivor left to find and to reason with Vili about his father's health.[2]
