Kassandra wearing the armor set

The Spartan War Hero Set was an armor set created by the ancient Greek city-state of Sparta.

During the Peloponnesian War, the armor set was in the possession of the members of the branch of the Cult of Kosmos which had infiltrated the Peloponnesian League. The Spartan misthios Kassandra hunted down the cultists and claimed each armor piece for herself. She also obtained the Xiphos of Dionysos from the Sage of that branch, Pausanias of Sparta.[1]

Trivia

  • This set shares its model with the Ares and Lysander's Sets.
  • The helmet of this set is inscribed with the phrase "ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ" (Molon labe), which is Greek for "Come and take them". According to the story, it was Leonidas I of Sparta's reply when Xerxes I of Persia offered to spare the lives of the Spartans if they gave up their arms.
  • The set is heavily decorated with the Greek letter lambda (Λ) standing for Lakonia.
  • The chest piece is appliqued with Σπαρτα, Greek for 'Sparta'. Furthermore, the small medallions around the edge of the chest piece contain the embossed phrases "ο βασιλιασ Αρχιμηον" and "ο βασιλιασ Λεωνιδας", meaning "O king Archimeon" and "O king Leonidas".
