The Sicilian Expedition (415–413 BCE) was an Athenian military expedition to Sicily, taking place during the Peloponnesian War.

Convinced by statesman Alkibiades to send an expeditionary force to the Roman island, Athens suffered a devastating defeat, completely losing their expeditionary force and signaling the beginning of the end of Athens' power.^[1]
