Shay Cormac’s mother (died 1731) immigrated to America with the rest of the Cormac family from Dublin, Ireland and settled in New York City, New York. She became pregnant by her husband and gave birth to Shay on 12 September[1] 1731, but unfortunately died during childbirth. As a result, Shay grew up without his mother and was instead raised by his aunt.[2]
