Scotthoh Farm was a small Anglo-Saxon farm northwest of Burgh Castle in the kingdom of East Anglia during the 9th century. Around 873 CE, its inhabitants decided to lock their doors, throw away the key, and stay where they were in the face of increasingly violent and frequent raids by the Viking jarl Rued, even as their neighbors fled to Northwic. Eventually, the Norse forces reached the settlement and left none alive. Some time later, Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan found the farm and the house's key inside the farm's well. Upon entering the house, she found the farmer's valuables and a page torn from one of their diaries.[1]
