Scotthoh Farm was a small Anglo-Saxon farm northwest of Burgh Castle in the kingdom of East Anglia during the 9th century.

History

Around 873 CE, the farm was raided by Rued's men. Some time later, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir found the farm as well. Locating a key inside the farm's well, Eivor managed to enter the house and found the farmer's valuables and a page which read:

Farmer's Diary
Every day, the Danes draw nearer. The others have fled to Northwic, but we – we shall stay. These are our homes.
Smoke over the trees now. Thatch roofs burn so bright. Rued's men spare neither man nor woman, kith nor kin.
We hear them laughing as they walk up the road. It is time, and may God have mercy on us all.[1]
