The Satyrs are creatures in the Greek mythology.

Often depicted in the company of the god Dionysos, drinking, dancing and chasing nymphs and others, the satyrs were nature spirits with equine features, like tails and ears of horses. Some counted deities like Pan and Silenos among them.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War the Spartan misthios Kassandra recovered sails and finery featuring the likeness of a satyr's face for the ship Adrestia in the depths of the Phoibean Lagoon.[1]

In the Valley of the Snake in Phokis, a hill was named Satyr's Respite, though no story told the reason for the name.[1]
