Saint Peter

Saint Peter (Greek: Πέτρος; Latin: Petrus; c. 1 CE – 67 CE), born Shimon and later known as Simon Peter, was a leader of the early Roman Catholic Church, and was one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus of Nazareth. He was featured prominently in the New Testament Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles.

Biography

At some point in time, Peter came into possession of a Staff of Eden and used it to become the first leader of the Christian religion and the first Pope of the Roman Catholic religion. Peter was later crucified upside down in the Circus of Nero in Rome around the year 67 CE. The Basilica di San Pietro was built over the site to commemorate him.

Legacy

In 2012, the Assassin Clay Kaczmarek collected details on Peter's life while Abstergo Industries held him captive at their Animus Project laboratory in Rome. He then hid the information within the Animus 1.28 in Glyph puzzles for his successor, Desmond Miles, to find. Sometime in early September, Desmond solved the puzzle set titled "Instruments of Power", in which Peter was included in the list of historical individuals revealed to have wielded a Staff of Eden. That same year, Abstergo's Project Legacy included Peter in a mnemonic set.

Behind the scenes

In Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy, Peter was one of the four martyred Christian saints represented in the "Martyrs" mnemonic set. The artwork for this set's mnemonics alluded to each saint's manner of martyrdom, with Peter's being depicted as an inverted cross.
