Pyrite

Pyrite, also known as fool's gold is a commonly found iron sulfide, which, due to its brassy colour, can be mistaken for gold.

History

During the Renaissance, the Mentor of the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins Ezio Auditore da Firenze used pyrite in order to create gold bombs, fooling civilians into mistaking the glittering pyrite coins for gold.
