Port Walton was a Saxon stronghold, a military base, and a port in Essexe, England.
History
In 875, Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir travelled to the port to rescue the Norse warriors under Rollo, after dealing with an apparent traitor. After releasing Rollo's men from their cages, Eivor and Rollo's soldiers attacked the stronghold from within and took out all the Saxon soldiers. Afterwards, Rollo came to the port's docks and thanked Eivor for the rescue of his men. Eivor and Rollo soon agreed to aid the Lady of Essexe, Estrid, in escaping from the shire and returning back to Francia, under the guise of a kidnap.[1]
Behind the Scenes
According to the namesake, "Walton" is a common meaning of a "farmstead or village of the Britons."
