The Mycenaean Tomb of Ajax was the tomb of the mythological Greek hero Ajax, located on the Isle of Salamis.

During the Peloponnesian War the tomb was occupied by a group of bandits. The Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the tomb in search of Ajax's golden feather at the request of Xenia[1] and also deciphered an ancient stele within.[2]

Trivia

  • In the myths, Ajax’s body was never brought back to Salamis from Troy and 2nd century geographer Pausanias would later attribute a giant skeleton found near Sigeion to that of Ajax.
