Mitarai Valley

Mitarai Valley is a valley east of the Dorogawa Onsen in southern Yamato, Japan.

History

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke visited the valley after overhearing the locals about a dead body along the stream. After finding the body, they followed the route upstream and found a "yamabushi" practicing his kata near a small pond with more corpses around him. Deducing the man was an murderous imposter, they confronted and ultimately assassinated him and acquired the bow Susanoo's Torrent from his personal effects.
