Master Assassin
The Master Assassin is the highest rank in the brotherhood. Altaïr held the position before being demoted to Novice Assassin, but eventually regained it. His descendant, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, also became a Master Assassin.
A Master Assassin is presumed to have reached the peak of his learning as an assassin; the rank garners a large amount of respect from other members within the Order, and indicates individuals who posess uncommon skill and talent in both the arts of stealth and assassination. A Master Assassin is meant to embody the Creed; they will never harm an innocent, always hide in plain sight, and never compromise the Brotherhood.
The Rank of Master Assassin differs from that of Grand Master of the Assassin's Order as Ezio and Machiavelli held them each respectivley at the same time.
Attire
A Master Assassin's attire is quite different from that worn by the other assassins. While they still have a hood with a beak-like design like the others, their robes are considerably longer, forming a bird-like "tail" whenever they perform a leap of faith or when they stand on a ledge, the color of their robes is usually black, like Al Mualim's robes in AC1 or Altair's armor in AC2, or plain white if the Assassin is not the Grand Master.
They have a waist belt that is considerably larger than those worn by other Assassins because it holds five throwing knives. There is also a container for throwing knives on the right shoulder and on the left boot. A sheath for a sword can be found attached to their waist belt by two straps. The left arm has armor that is bigger than the the right, as it hides the hidden blade.
