Louise, Duchess of Argyll
Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll (Louisa Caroline Alberta; 1848 – 1939) was the fourth daughter and sixth child overall born to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
Biography
In a letter of royal correspondence sent on 22 January 1866 to Earl Russell by her mother, Princess Louise was mentioned as "Alberta" and to be accompanying her mother still as a grieving widow to the reopening of Parliament.[1] On 6 February, Louise and her sister Helena,[2] accompanied their mother in support of her first public outing since the death of their father and her husband. Despite heavy winds, the two windows of the carriage remained open so the trio could look out upon the enthusiastic faces of their citizens.[3]
