The American rebels would have been an insurgency force led by Thomas Jefferson against the government of George Washington in an alternative timeline where the first President of the United States becomes an autocratic king.[1] This timeline was revealed to Washington and the Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton in a vision cast by an Apple of Eden that Washington found.[2]
Behind the scenes
The rebels feature as an ally faction in The Tyranny of King Washington DLC expansion to Assassin's Creed III (2012). The premise of the expansion is an alternate reality where George Washington becomes an evil king, and the usual American soldiers of the Continental Army serve as his troops. Because of this, the character models for the British redcoats are used for the rebellion against King Washington, such that the ally and enemy factions are cosmetically switched around.
