The Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem, more commonly known as the Knights Teutonic, were a monastic-military order of German origin that participated in the Third Crusade.

During the Crusade, the Teutonic Order aided King Richard I of England in the conquest of Acre, and were later positioned in the city's Middle District.

The Order's first Grand Master, Sibrand, was never apart of the Templar Order. they were ordered to destroy and kill all of the Templar order, in wich they thought they had suceeded, later on in France the Teutonic knights were used to help flush out the last strong hold of templar knights, with the assistances of assassin's.

Trivia

  • In Assassin's Creed Teutonic soldiers spoke English, French and German like other Crusaders, despite the order being predominately German.
  • An achievement called "Keeper of the Black Cross" could be earned in the Xbox 360 version of Assassin's Creed for collecting all of the Teutonic flags.
