Katasraj Mandir

The Katasraj Mandir is a Hindu temple complex situated in Katas village, near Choa Saidanshah in the Chakwal district of Punjab, in Pakistan.

The complex encompasses multiple styles and buildings, some of them being more noticeable, like those dedicated to Ramachandra, Hanuman and Shiva.

History

The complex contained smaller temples dating from 5th century BCE, with more temples were added to the complex in the 4th century.[1]

During the mid-19th century, the temple was visited by the Indian Assassin Arbaaz Mir.[2]

The complex was eventually abandoned in 1947 after the Hindus migrated to East Punjab, though a few still go on pilgrimage to the Mandir.[1]

Trivia

  • Mandir is a Hindu word meaning "temple".
