Kala was a jötunn that sought Gunlodr's hand in marriage. He was the twin brother of Vindr.

Biography

In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin at Jötunheimr, Kala and Vindr, having asked for Gunlodr's hand three times and receiving three negative answers, decided to conjure a storm and bury Útgarðar "beneath the snows of [their] fury". Odin looked for the source of the storm, finding the brothers and being attacked by them. In the end, Odin killed both brothers, stopping the storm.
