Those Who Have Come Before are the intelligent beings who created the Pieces of Eden and the other ancient artifacts like it. Exactly how long ago they lived is unclear, but their technology is far beyond anything man has achieved by the 21st century. If what Warren Vidic claims is true, almost every major technological advancement of the last millenium has been achieved by reverse-engineering their technology. If the claims of the Templars are true, the Pieces of Eden were created thousands of years ago and were responsible for every major religious miracle, at least in the Templars' eyes, thus disproving the existence of an all powerful God. What exactly they were or how they died out or vanished is equally unclear, although it was revealed that their civilization, as well as others, were wiped out due to a cataclysm cause by a massive solar flare. The idea of the ones who have come before could be based on the ancient astronaut theory, where alien life visited the Earth milennia ago or the legend of Atlantis. Their technology is apparently easy to operate as even Al Mualim, who presumably didn’t know how the Piece of Eden actually worked, was able to wield one with ease. Curiously, Those Who Have Come Before programmed the Pieces of Eden to each display the locations of the others, presumably when they were damaged, though why this was done is unclear. They were probably the members of the first intelligent civilization on Earth and may have been worshipped as the ancient Greek and Roman gods by humans. Some of their members, if the previous theory is correct, were Minerva, Juno, Janus and others. They are believed in actuality to be a highly advanced extraterrestrial species that came to Earth and created the Pieces of Eden to advance or perhaps even create humanity, which would explain the "truth" video.
