The Harem of the Abbasid caliph resided within the Round City of Baghdad, located in the south of the Residential District. The building was not only home to the caliph's concubines, but were also home to slaves and servants, including eunuchs, that made up their household.

In the 860s, the Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq travelled to the Harem to locate Qabiha, the concubine of the late caliph Al-Mutawakkil who was a possible suspect for the Order of the Ancients's leader.[1]
