Tomo and Nathalie walk through the Gorges du Pont-du-Diable

The Gorges du Pont-du-Diable is a small valley beneath the Pont du Diable and a secret Assassin base run by Nathalie Chapman in France.

History

After her escape from Abstergo Industries, Dr. Nathalie Chapman set up many bases, one being in the Gorges du Pont-du Diable, where she installed her Animus Omega.[1] By 30 October 2017, Chapman revealed herself to be an Assassin to Tomo Sakagawa, who was posing as Dr. Florent Carpentier, and drove him to her base in the gorge. There, she explains her plans and asks for his help to de-encrypt Abstergo files on Alekseï Gavrani. He does so and helps her by reliving Gavrani's past in her lab.[2]

Although suffering from the Bleeding Effect, Tomo continued to relive Gavrani's past as Chapman presided over him. Although making headway, Tomo learned that Chapman wished to know more of Boris Pash's past as she wanted to insert past Assassin memories into unwilling patients. While Chapman abandoned her Animus lab, Hajime Shimada and his Assassins took over the area and brought a wounded Tomo there. However, while aiding Tomo, Hajime reluctantly stated Tomo must continue to relive Gavrani's life as to ascertain Chapman's motives and the Apple of Eden's location.[2]

After an extensive time in the Animus, Tomo awoke from the events and believed himself to be Gavrani and the rest of the Assassins being Pash. However once the Bleeding Effect wore off, he realized that he destroyed the Animus and killed most of the Assassins, including Hajime. In Hajime's last breath, he tells Tomo to contact Saeko Mochizuki and the Osaka cell for reinforcements against Chapman. However, Tomo pursues the doctor himself, with the memories of Gavrani within him.[1]
