Galina Voronina

Galina Voronina is a Russian member of the Assassin Order, as well as one of the daughters of an Assassin scientist who succeeded in constructing her own Animus inside an old Assassin laboratory, located in Protvino, Moscow.

Biography

By March 2014, Galina's mother had gone insane – she claimed she was speaking to Eve – and had forced other members of her cell into the Animus, which subsequently drove them mad through the Bleeding Effect. With her mother having sealed herself inside the lab, Galina made contact with Gavin Banks, Emmett and Emmanuel Barraza, Assassins from the Altair II, on the 16th of March and asked them to assassinate her mother.[1]

Galina then reconvened with the trio of Assassins two days later to discuss plans, having convinced Gavin into aiding her. While doing so, Emmett attempted to explain to her that her mother couldn't have been speaking to Eve, as experiences in the Animus were purely passive, though Galina did not seem convinced.[2]

Accompanied by her new allies, Galina traveled to Protvino, which was crawling with feral Assassins, and broke into the old laboratory. Although she had requested the back-up of Gavin and his team, Galina hardly needed help, using her two Hidden Blades to effortlessly kill their attackers, among them her twin sister. Eventually they found Galina's babbling mother strapped to the ancient Animus she had constructed, in a room filled with monitors. As Galina knelt down next to her mother, Emmett watched the screens, believing to see a face[3] in them. When Galina ended her mother's life, the face cried out, before vanishing.[4]

Trivia

  • Galina is derived from the Ancient Greek galene, meaning "calm". It's also used as a Russian variant of Helen, a Greek name that means "shining brightly". The root voro from her surname means "thief".
