Fuma Sukuna

Fuma Sukuna was a leader of a guild of shinobi working for the Templar-affiliated Shimazu clan during the 18th century. He was determined to eliminate the mixed-heritage samurai in service of the Shimazu clan, the Templar Shimazu Saito.

Biography

By 1725, Sukuna was based in Macau alongside Saito to pursue a lead of a map leading to an alleged Precursor site in Angkor. However, heightened tensions due to Saito's mixed heritage created a schism within the shinobi, with Sukuna leading the full-blooded Japanese ninja and Saito leading her own group consisting of mixed-blooded ninja. Sukuna and his faction aligned with the businesswoman Lee and sought to eliminate Saito, who aligned herself with businessman Sun and the Hualien Trading Company.[1]

Unable to get close to Saito, Sukuna secretly met the former pirate Edward Kenway from the Assassin Brotherhood, assigning him the task of assassinating Saito herself due to his skills as a Master Assassin. Edward accepted the mission, with Sukuna promising to accompany him during his mission at Master Sun's floating gambling hall, where Saito would be at.[1]
