Engineer
- "Obsessed with numbers and calculations, only living by the rules discovered by great mathematicians, the Engineer never attacks his targets without careful preparation. Accompanying him from plans to action, his Compass has pierced more skulls than sheets of paper."
- ―Ubisoft Description

The Engineer (real name: Gaspar de la Croix) is a multiplayer character in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, whose assassination weapon of choice is a drafting compass.
Unique Moves
Jawbreaker (Low Profile, Front)
- The Engineer casually approaches his target, before grabbing them by the back of their head with one hand and pushing the sharp points of his compass through the soft flesh underneath the jaw and inside of their skull, piercing his victim's brain. He then removes his compass and stores it back into a pocket on his satchel, while his target's dead body falls to the floor.
Headshot (Low Profile, Back)
- The Engineer's walks up to target from behind and kicks their legs out from underneath them so that they fall to their knees. He then grabs his compass by its handle and stabs his victim one-handedly in the top of their head, puncturing the brain, while keeping them steady by holding their shoulder with his other hand. Removing his grip on his target, he lets their body fall forward to the ground, while blood spurts out of their wound.
Point of Impact (High Profile, Back)
- The Engineer quickly comes up from behind and grabs the back of his target's waist, before forcefully pulling his victim backwards and stepping forward himself. With his compass in his hand and the momentum of his pull, he jams his weapon into their back, impaling one of their kidneys on the compass' sharp points. Letting go of his target, the Engineer conceals his weapon while he watches them collapse to the ground, where they would bleed to death internally.
Backfire (High Profile, Front)
- The Engineer walks up to his target from the front and reaches around their head, grabbing his victim by the scruff of the neck. He then yanks their head downward and delivers a quick but fatal stab to the crevice of the shoulder blades, before letting go and watching them fall forward to their demise.
Double Helix (Bench Kill)
- The Engineer walks up to his seated target and grabs the side of their head with one one of his hands. He then takes in compass in his free hand and forcefully thrusts it into his victim's neck, piercing their jugular, before pulling his weapon away and concealing it, as his target's dead body slides from the bench.
Sniper's Ambush (Aerial Kill)
- The Engineer jumps from above a rooftop onto his target and pulls out his compass, before brutally stabbing his victim in the back of their head. Leaving his target to die from the wounds he inflicted, the Engineer stands up and stores his compass back into his satchel.

Trivia
- "De la Croix" is French for "of the Cross." This is likely a reference to his Templar affiliation. It is also possible that he is French.
- Before the launch of the Brotherhood Beta, he was referred to as "the Merchant."
- According to his Database entry in Brotherhood, his profession is labeled as "Sniper," due to his appearance in an Abstergo Agent Mission, wherein he killed a man with an arquebus from a rooftop.
- When Ezio kills Gaspar, he slides his hand over his face to close his eyes despite the fact that he is wearing glasses, and peculiarly, his glasses don't move.
