El Impoluto

El Impoluto (English: The Pristine) was one of five legendary ships encountered by the pirate Edward Kenway in the Caribbean, during the Golden Age of Piracy. She could be found sailing in the Gulf of Mexico.

She was among the most maneuverable vessels in service to the Spanish Navy, easily outpacing smaller vessels like the Jackdaw despite its size. The ship was also unique in its construction, possessing a significantly powerful naval ram, capable of inflicting massive damage on an enemy vessel in a single blow.

El Impoluto was one of the most aggressive ships to sail the West Indies, often hunting down her enemies with powerful chaser cannons, before ramming into them from behind. After ramming, she would often turn and sail farther away before turning around and charging for another attack. Her broadside cannons were generally used only as a secondary weapon.

Despite her advantages, El Impoluto was eventually sunk by Edward Kenway's Jackdaw.

Strategy

As you might have guessed, the main attack of this ship is the oversized battering ram. What you need to do may sound insane, but it is by far the best tactic - face the ship head on, and chain shot it when it's in range to slow it down. Right before you both impact, Brace. This will ensure you do the maximum amount of damage with your battering ram, while sustaining the least amount from El Impoluto's. Trust me on this. Trying to run or out-maneuver the ship is impossible - it has more movement speed and can often turn very quickly in order to ram you. The ship also has a large amount of broadside cannons, but won't use them nearly as much as the ramming tactic. I cannot stress enough that there is almost no chance of you avoiding the ram, so try to give as good as you get.

I should also stress that this fight is no pushover. Brace or no brace, the ram does an ungodly amount of damage. I recommend level 3 armor and battering ram or above for this fight.

Trivia

  • Impoluto is Spanish for "spotless, unblemished, unpolluted".
  • After he successfully destroyed all legendary ships, Edward was rewarded with El Impoluto's charge attack for the Jackdaw. When used, the Jackdaw's speed was temporarily increased in order to deliver devastating damage with the ram.
  • The wheel and figurehead of El Impoluto can be gained in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag by completing community challenges.
