Eikþyrnir was a male deer in Norse mythology.

Mythology

Eikþyrnir is a stag which is said to stand on top of Valhalla itself as mentioned in the Prose Edda. It would eat leaves from the tree Læraðr. Water flowed from his antlers into Hvergelmir, a spring which gives live to eleven rivers in Asgard.^[1]

Legacy and influence

In the dream-sequence of Asgard, Havi encountered the Four stags of Yggdrasil, whom he followed until they led him to Eikþyrnir, revealing a treasure before disappearing.^[2]
