Akila
Akila was a personal servant of the pharaoh Cleopatra during the late 1st century BCE.
During Octavian's siege of Alexandria around 30 BCE, Akila witnessed a captured Roman spy be executed on Cleopatra's order. Akila turned away at the first sight of blood. Cleopatra then order that the spy's head be sent to Octavian as a message. Akila then confirmed that what the spy said was true and Octavian's army was closing in on the city. Cleopatra then said that the spy's stubbornness reminded her of someone.[1]
While Cleopatra had her guard train her son Caesarion, Akila noticed a fire off in the distance. Caesarion theorized that it was a trap set by Octavian.[2] When Octavian's men were about to storm the palace, the Hidden One Amunet entered the palace and convinced Cleopatra to give up. Akila was tasked by Cleopatra to inform the Romans of their surrender, before committing suicide with a vial of poison given to her by Amunet.[3]

- Akila is a variant of the Arabic name أكله (Aqila), meaning 'intelligent, wise'.
