A-Ma Cultural Village

The A-Ma Cultural Village is a former village in Macau which has since been converted into a tourist attraction in the 21st century. It is notably home to a temple worshipping the Chinese sea-goddess Mazu, who was also known as A-Ma.

History

In 1725, after inadvertently ending his partnership with Madam Lee, the British Assassin Edward Kenway led several of his companions including John Young, Zhang, and his fellow villagers to reside in the new location. There, Edward and his companions formed a trading organization called the Zhang Wei Union that vowed to bring people together, protect them, and conduct business through ethical means. Since then, the village served as the organization's headquarters for a period of time until its conversion into a tourist attraction.

In the 2020s, Edward's descendant Noa Kim travelled to the complex alongside the Abstergo doctor Shimazu Sei to pick up on Edward's lead in 1725. Upon arriving, Sei's team was denied entry despite having applied to gain access prior. When her team sought to force their way through, Noa made use of the distraction to sneak away and follow a trail he discovered with Eagle Vision. The trail led him to a secret entrance into Zhang's former residence, where he recovered a book Edward had entrusted to Zhang.

While Noa was away, members of the Zhang Wei Union attempted to rescue him. Staging a distraction in which Sei and her Abstergo guards were blocked by several thugs, the organization members approached Noa and tried to convince him to leave with them. However, Noa refused due to wishing to uncover his family roots and history by reliving Edward's memories at Abstergo, and was eventually let go after a brief scuffle. He then came to Sei's rescue, dispatching all the thugs who had killed her guards, before returning to Abstergo's facility.
