Ahmad Shāh Durrānī (c. 1722 – 16 October 1772), also known as Ahmad Khān Abdālī, was an Afghan chief and the founder of the Durrani Empire.

In 1747, the Iranian Shah, Nāder Shāh, was assassinated by Salah Bey. The Shah's Koh-i-Noor diamond, a Piece of Eden, ended up in the hands of Ahmad. Salah planned to pursue Ahmad in order to claim the Koh-i-Noor for the Assassin Order. However, the diamond remained in Ahmad's possession.[1]

In 1830, following the fall of Ahmad's Durrani Empire, the diamond ended up in the possession of Ranjit Singh, the founder of the Sikh Empire.[2]
