This article is about the Achaemenid emperor Darius I. You may be looking for the proto-assassin Darius.

Darius I (550 BCE – October 486 BCE), also known as Darius the Great, was the emperor of the Achaemenid Empire, Pharaoh of Egypt, and the father of Xerxes I.

Darius was strongly supported by the Order of the Ancients,[1] and they aided him when he overthrew the Empire's usurper Gaumata and ascended the throne of Persia.[2]
