Christoffa Corombo
Christoffa Corombo (Italian: Cristoforo Colombo; c. 1451 – 20 May 1506), better known by the name Christopher Columbus, was an Italian navigator, colonizer, and explorer who worked with the nation of Spain. His voyages across the Atlantic Ocean exposed the existence of the Americas to the Europeans and planted the very first seeds of the Spanish Empire, though his original intention was to find a western route to India.
For this pivotal role, he was assisted by the Assassins Luis de Santángel and Ezio Auditore da Firenze and hounded after by the Templars, who hoped to prevent his journey so as to be the first to claim the "New World". As an ally of the Assassins, he would be entrusted with an Apple of Eden by Aguilar de Nerha in the aftermath of the Granada War, an artifact he would ultimately carry to his grave at the Seville Cathedral.
Biography
In 1491, Christopher Columbus was contacted by Rodrigo Borgia, Grand Master of the Templar Order, who had heard of his plans to sail west and wanted to arrange a meeting with him. He offered to fund the exploration, as Columbus himself could not collect enough money. Columbus' friend, Luis de Santángel, warned him that the meeting was a trap, but Columbus refused to listen. Luis then contacted Antonio de Magianis, who advised him to hire the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze to oversee the meeting as a precaution.
The meeting was indeed a setup, but Ezio arrived just in time to save Columbus from the Borgia guards. Once they reached safety, he and Luis asked Ezio to help them by acquiring an atlas with a Piri Reis map needed for Columbus' journey. Ezio agreed to help them, and succesfully returned the atlas to them.
The following year, Colombus attempted to gain funding for his expedition from Queen Isabella I of Castile, but she refused to finance the journey, as her funds were still scarce after the war with Muhammad XII of Granada. The King of France offered to give Columbus the necessary funds, and the explorer set out to meet him. However, it turned out to be another Templar plot, and Ezio arrived just in time to protect him.[1]
That same year, Assassin Aguilar de Nerha entrusted Colombus with an Apple of Eden tasking him to keep it safe. Colombus kept the artifact until his death and was eventually buried with it until the Templars took the Apple from his tomb in 2016.[2]
