"Merchants. Livestock. Caravans from all walks. And I thought Anbar's markets were disorderly."
―Basim describing the Caravanserai, 860s.[src]-[m]
Caravanserai

The Caravanserai in Baghdad was located on the city's western outskirts, near the Water Mill and southwest of the 'Aqarquf Dunes. It was used by the Order of the Ancients member Al-Ghul, the alias of soap mill owner Mas'ood Al-Ya'qoob, to procure laborers to dig sites to aid the Order's efforts in unearthing Isu technology.

History

In the 860s, the Hidden Ones were able to uncover the caravanserai as Mas'ood's base of operations with help from Zanj rebels Ali ibn Muhammad and Beshi.[1] The Master Assassin Roshan and her apprentice Basim made their way to the site in preparation for Basim's first Order target to eliminate. With help from Enkidu, Basim identified ways to infiltrate the guarded site and eliminate Mas'ood: travelling merchants whose goods were detained by Mas'ood, and workers awaiting to be granted their freedom. Through these distractions, Basim was able reach atop the roof of a building and assassinate Mas'ood in the balcony by hanging him with a rope.[2]

Some time after these events, Basim returned to the caravanserai to rescue a young informant of Ali's, who hid himself in a jar of spices after his cover was blown. Basim was able to sneak inside and rescue the informant from the Caliphate guards searching for him.[3]
