The Café de la Régence is a café in the Palais-Royal in Paris, France. A meeting place for the French intellectuals, it was well known for being a center of chess in Europe.[1] Among its many patrons figured great thinkers of the enlightenment such as Denis Diderot, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Voltaire; as well as important statesmen such as Maximilien Robespierre, Benjamin Franklin and Napoleon Bonaparte.[2]
