Brendan of Clonfert (c. 484 – c. 577 CE) was a Celtic monk from Ireland and a Sage.

Biography

From 530 to 537, Brendan embarked on a pilgrimage, visiting many Standing stones across England, documenting his unknowing interactions with the Isu in messages he marked on rocks near places like Seahenge and Stonehenge. His "two and some year" journey ended in Vinland at the Tionontaté:ken Standing Stone. In his writing, Brendan made reference to "God's angel" denying him access.[1]

Legacy

Nearly two centuries later, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir found and completed his puzzles over the course of her own travels.[1]

Behind the scenes

Brendan of Clonfert was a historical figure and character appearing in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla via his journal entries with voice over provided by Simon Lee Phillips who also voiced Octavian in the same game.[2]
