Thessaly (Θεσσαλία), also known as Aeolia (Αἰολία) in antiquity, is a region of Greece.[1]

Economy[edit | edit source]

Like in nearby Makedonia, horse breeding was important in Thessaly, and the animals were greatly valued.[2]

Geography[edit | edit source]

The river Pineios flows through Thessaly and into the Aegean Sea.[3] A city known as Pharsalos in antiquity is located in southern Thessaly.[2]
