Born: 1702, England
Died: 1722, Anotto Bay

Israel Hands was the loyal and able sailing master to Blackbeard during the pirate king's heyday. For several years he served his captain with courage and gusto, until Blackbeard's sudden death at the hands of the notorious British pirate hunter Lieutenant Robert Maynard. Left without a captain or ship, Hands ingratiated himself into another pirate crew working out of Havana.

Bitter at what he perceived as a lack of recognition, Hands engineered a mutiny against the captain of his new crew, wresting control of the ship and killing or marooning all who would not follow him.

Still simmering with resentment, Hands behand hunting any he perceived to have slighted him, and to regain the respect and reward he believed had been denied him. When he heard Blackbeard's treasure was discovered, he extracted its location from an unfortunate sailor who informed him (and who did not survive the encounter). He then sailed for Anotto Bay, determined to beat all who would challenge him to the prize he believed was his fair due.
