The Most Reverent Horace Ravenscroft spent much of his life in the West Indies as a missionary. A Catholic from a Protestant nation, he left in search of a land where he could peacefully tend to his own parish and help spread his faith. As a young priest he became well known for his willingness to interact with locals without pomp or ceremony. Over the years he worked his way up within the Church hierarchy until reaching the rank of Bishop.
With the steady influx of travelers into Kingston and the surrounding area, Bishop Ravenscroft found himself caught up in a growing conflict with the largely Protestant population who were intent on driving Catholics out.
As violence erupted between the two factions, more of his people fled. Ravenscroft wrote for help, and received only platitudes and consolation. Then Templar mercenary Julien du Casse offered protection on the condition he joined the Templar cause. Conflicted but determined to preserve the Catholic presence in Kingston, Ravenscroft agreed.
With help from Du Casse and his men, Ravenscroft began to gain ground again. He then called for all Catholics in the region to join him in Kingston as a show of force.
One of his closest ministers, the Padre, refused the call, not wanting to put his people at risk. Fearing that others would follow the Padre's lead, Ravenscroft decided to make an example of him, and sent Du Casse's men to slaughter his entire village. The gambit worked, and other congregations in the region fell into line.
However, the Padre soon discovered the truth of Ravenscroft's betrayal. He confronted the Bishop at Kingston and hung him from the rafters of his own church.
