The Council wishes to express its extreme displeasure at the recent operational disaster at Project Mnemosyne, in which two of our most eminent minds were lost to the enemy.
The Council finds it difficult to believe that a small group of Assassins were permitted to get close enough to extricate such high-value Abstergo employees. You were well aware of the employees' intention to defect and were tracking the activities of the Assassins, yet still you failed to prevent them. The Council finds that your ham-fisted attempt at a trap was overconfident and ill-advised, and provided them the opportunity they needed to carry out their plans. You failed to appreciate the threat they posed.
Under such circumstances, the release of Ego into the Animus is an embarrassment to Abstergo. It is some comfort that our core directives remain intact, but we have no idea what Maeda managed to do to it before it got out. Suffice to say this is not how we envisaged the culmination of a decade-long plan in which we have invested heavily.
