Alcestre Monastery

Alcestre Monastery was a monastery situated west of Ravensthorpe in Leicestershire, England, then part of the Kingdom of Mercia during the Anglo-Saxon period.
In 873, the monastery was raided by the Raven Clan of Vikings led by Eivor Varinsdottir in order to obtain materials to build a forge for Ravensthorpe's blacksmith, Gunnar.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Alcestre Monastery is a location featured in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. However, while Alcester has been an inhabited population center since the Roman period, its depiction as the site of a monastery is anachronistic, as the historical Benedictine monastery of Alcester Abbey would not be founded until 1183.
