Bayonets were essentially sharp spikes or knives that could be fitted onto the muzzle of muskets and rifles. During the American Revolution, bayonets were utilised by soldiers from both the British and Continental armies, though generally only as last-resort ancillary weapons.

The Assassin Connor Kenway was able to take bayonets from musket racks or soldiers and use them to slash or impale nearby enemies. While a bayonet was embedded in a soldier's torso, Connor was able to fire the musket itself and efficiently eliminate two opponents in quick succession.
