Abuna Yemata, also called Abba Yem'ata,[1] and later venerated as Saint Abuna,[2] was a sixth-century monk. One of the Nine Saints, who came from the Byzantine Empire to the Aksumite Kingdom to spread the holy word, Yemata had an impenetrable church built in the kingdom.[2]
