Duncan Walpole (1679 – 1715) was a member of the Assassin Order stationed in the Caribbean during the early 18th century, who attempted to defect to the Templars.[1]
In June of 1715, Walpole assaulted a pirate ship in the middle of a storm. Boarding the ship, he assassinated the captain, but was thrown overboard by an explosion. Shipwrecked on an uncharted island, Walpole attempted to enlist the aid of the pirate Edward Kenway to help him reach Havana.
Edward attempted to haggle the price of passage, but Duncan threatened him with a flintlock pistol, but couldn't fire it due to wet gunpowder. Walpole subsequently fled into the jungle, and Edward gave chase before eventually killing him. After Duncan's death, Edward found a letter from the Governor Laureano de Torres y Ayala, and donned Duncan's Assassin robes in an attempt to pose as the dead Assassin and collect the reward for a cargo mentioned in the letter.[2]
