Well, as shown in ACII and real-life, Machiavelli was a man of pride, a man of respect. Respectful enough to admire his enemy and noble enough to uphold his mission, he's just "that" kind of character. After killing many a hundred of Borgia's men in Forli and Rome, as well as having, I dunno, about a thousand chances at assassinating Ezio, I think he would of done it already. I don't think he would downgrade to that of a rat. But, unfortunately, some points may go to Rayne as my first few sentences could work as well if he were to be a Templar.. so it's hard to tell.
