I think it's because they did not make Connor interaction that deep and it makes it hard to feel like that character. I'm also one who can't seem to enjoy perfectly playing with anyone than Ezio, it's hard to detach from a character you get to like as if he was really real... And sometimes the interaction of the player and the character is what makes the game awesome.
