The Assassins Guild is opened after a memory during Sequence 4 (Den of Thieves), and is located at Ezio Auditore's Tiber Island Hideout. Headed by Ezio and Niccolò Machiavelli, its purpose is to recruit potential Assassins, and assist citizens across Rome in their fight against the Borgia. Assassin recruits gain experience by being called to fight guards and by being sent on contracts.

The Assassins Guild can be controlled outside of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood when the game is connected to Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy.
By the modern era, the Order seemed to have organized itself into smaller groups of Assassins per city, dropping the idea of complete guilds.

The Guild can be accessed throughout many places in Rome. It can be accessed by the map on a desk next to the caged pigeon in Ezio's Tiber Island headquarters, the many Pigeon Coops spread throughout Rome, and the 12 Assassin Towers (As Ezio destroys Borgia towers, they are converted into Assassin Towers).
Each guild provided its recruits with a wide array of weapons and armor qualities. These ususally improved in step with the apprentice's rank; higher ranked Assassins would gain access to weapons such as the pistol and smoke bombs. Additionally, the number of ranks in a particular guild varied between cities; the guild in Rome, for example, only had ten ranks, whilst the guild in Constantinople had fifteen.

The citizens of Rome can be recruited as Apprentices under Ezio, and train under him to become Assassins. As he travels across Rome, he will find brave citizens standing up to the tyranny and oppression of the Borgia city guards. In saving these citizens, they will pledge themselves under Ezio, and will become an understudy at the Tiber Island headquarters. The amount of Recruits Ezio can have at once is dependent on how many Borgia Towers have be ignited and converted to Assassin Towers; one recruit per destroyed tower.

Multiple options are available under the Assassin menu. The Armor and weaponry of your Assassin Recruits can be upgraded via skill points, which are gained upon leveling up, with one skill point per level. Each additional rank under Armor or Weaponry grants the recruit an additional piece of equipment, or a more powerful weapon. Additionally, the color of a recruit's uniform may be changed (though this has no impact on gameplay besides aesthetics) until they have reached the rank of Assassino.

The guild in Constantinople worked to prevent the Byzantine Templars from influencing Sultan Beyazid II's actions, or taking control of the Empire's military. They also worked to remove Portugese spies from the migrating Jewish population, who had been offered refuge in the empire by Beyazid II.
Upon one or more recruits reaching the Assassino rank, a initiation ceremony is held at the Tiber Island Hideout. The recruit walks down the Ceremonial Hall, flanked on both sides by fellow trainees. As the Creed is repeated by Ezio, accompanied by Machiavelli, the Recruit's left ring finger is branded with the Assassin mark, and they perform a Leap of Faith from the roof of the Hideout into the Tiber River. After this, the newly born Assassino is given Assassin Armor, which gives them full health squares, attains the highest strength with the Assassin Sword, and is given full Assassin Robes similar to Ezio's Master Assassin robes (though you no longer have the option to change its color). These robes will remain Assassin White. (However, depending on the dye used on a certain recruit before gaining the rank of Assassino, the cape will have a certain color that corresponds to that dye, albeit not the same color as it would appear on Ezio if his cape were to be dyed).

Members of the guild in Rome.

The Guilds were organized groups of Assassins based in cities across the globe. The guilds formed the basis of the Order's command structure during the Renaissance, with each guild coming under the control of a Master Assassin.[1]

By the modern era, the Order seemed to have organized itself into smaller groups of Assassins per city, dropping the idea of complete guilds.[2]

Guild Management

The guild in Rome recruited its members from the city's disaffected population; those who had suffered at the hands of the Templar House of Borgia flocked to the guild when approached by a member. Once a member, recruits trained through experience; they would go on actual mission and aid in the progression of the Order's goals. Communication both between and within the guilds was facilitated through use of pigeon coops.[2]

Each guild provided its recruits with a wide array of weapons and armor qualities. These ususally improved in step with the apprentice's rank; higher ranked Assassins would gain access to weapons such as the pistol and smoke bombs. Additionally, the number of ranks in a particular guild varied between cities; the guild in Rome, for example, only had ten ranks,[2] whilst the guild in Constantinople had fifteen.[1]

In Rome, the ranks progressed as follows:

 1. Recluta (Recruit)
 2. Servitore (Servent)
 3. Assistente (Assistant)
 4. Milite (Soldier)
 5. Discepolo (Disciple)
 6. Mercenario (Mercenary)
 7. Guerriero (Warrior)
 8. Veterano (Veteran)
 9. Maestro (Master)
 10. Assassino (Assassin)

Upon reaching the rank Assassino, a initiation ceremony would be held. In Rome, these ceremonies would take place within the Tiber Island headquarters. Following the ceremony, the Assassins would don the official garb of Order, similar in style to il Mentore Ezio Auditore da Firenze's.
